Iowa Department of Economic Development Business Assistance: This site contains information on state and regulatory issues including business licensing and permitting, small business/entrepreneurial financial and technical resources, and identifying and developing new markets.
Iowa Department of Economic Development: This site contains information on the economic development of Iowa in specific areas as: education, jobs, taxes, natural resources and more.
State of Iowa Homepage: This site provides access to many other sites pertaining to Iowa. These include topics such as education, business, agriculture, leisure, employment and many others.
Iowa Division of Banking: This site provides broad coverage of issues in banking as well as related links.
Iowa Insurance Division: This comprehensive site contains information from the State Commissioner's Office and provides links to the relevant bureaus to obtain information about specific insurance issues.
Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals: This site provides an overview of the department of inspection and appeals and a brief summary of the six different subdivisions within the department.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources: This comprehensive site gives information relating to all aspects of natural resources including: fishing, hunting, parks, and forestry and provides information about educational programs and licensing requirements.
Iowa Department Revenue: This is an informational site that provides advice and facts about tax-related issues and contains links to the subdivisions within the department.
Iowa Department of Transportation: This site includes information about motor vehicle safety and registration, road condition reports and recent news releases from the department.
Iowa Workforce Development: This site provides information about available employment, labor market information, local workforce development centers and the available services by the division.
Iowa Secretary of State: This site contains two searchable databases about Iowa corporations and liens filed with the UCC as well as providing recent press releases concerning Iowa's Secretary of State department.
Iowa Small Business Development Centers: This site is to conduct research, counsel and train business people in management, financing and operations of a small business.
Iowa Bankers Association: This site gives advice from the Iowa Banker's Association on topics from how to finance a car purchase to improving credit history.
Iowa State Bar Association: This site contains information provided by the Iowa State Bar Association. It provides legal referrals and up-to-date information pertaining to the law as well as available programs and seminars sponsored by the Iowa State Bar.
U.S. Small Business Administration: This site provides information about the SBA and the services it provides. It also contains information about local SBA offices, recent news releases, and a calendar of events.
Business.gov: This site contains answers to questions about business-related issues. It also provides links to allow the user to browse through other topics pertaining to business issues.
U.S. Department of Labor: This comprehensive site provides access to information about retirement benefits, safety and health issues, wage and hour regulations and workplace standards. It also provides news releases, programming events and a searchable database.
U.S. Copyright Office: This site provides recent news releases, general information, legislation and information about national and international copyright laws.
Federal Trade Commission: This site contains information about anti-competitive practices, as well as consumer protection, recent news releases, filing complaints, and local/regional offices.
International Trade Administration: This site is maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce and provides information about international issues. It contains information about different regions and industries as well as providing facts about import and export laws.
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office: This site offers a broad variety of issues and topics related to patents and trademarks. It contains a searchable database for both patents and trademarks to determine registration as well as current news releases and related information.
U.S. Department of Commerce: This comprehensive site allows the user to explore the bureaus within the department and review the latest press releases from the department.
U.S. Census: This site is partnered with the U.S. Department of Commerce and provides estimates for the 2000 census, business, demographic and geographic information in addition to recent press releases and special topics in the U.S.
Online Women's Business Center: This site was created in partnership with the SBA. It provides a resource database of information and topics pertaining to management, marketing and finance for women in business.
BizWomen: This site contains a variety of information for business women about education, promotion of products/services, web research and design and communications.
American Business Women's Association: This site is a source of information about leadership and educational opportunities for women in business; it also provides news releases of relevant business information. Requires membership.
National Association for Female Executives: This site gives information about the largest business-women's association in the United States; it outlines benefits of membership, provides articles on a variety of topics and lists events of potential interest to women.
Springboard Enterprises: This site educates, showcases and supports women entrepreneurs as they seek equity capital to grow their companies.
Count Me In: This site is designed for women's economic independence. It has loans for small businesses from $500 to $10,000. The first loan of $5,000 or less for 8-15% interest.
Business & Community Services Division of the University of Northern Iowa: This site provides access to UNI's Business and Community Services divisions. These services include marketing, financing and decision-making assistance.
Edward Lowe Foundation: A web site for entrepreneurs developed by the inventor of Kitty Litter, Edward Lowe. It contains an electronic bookshelf and a bulletin board on which entrepreneurs can trade tips.
Wall Street Journal Small Business Marketing: This site provides information and resources to help start and market your small business.
Wall Street Journal Mini Business Plan Prep Software: This site provides a simple, on-line business plan template.
Kauffman Foundation: This site provides information on all of the services and programs offered by the Kauffman Foundation. The Kauffman Foundation is dedicated to entrepreneurship and provides substantial information, resources, and programs for entrepreneurs. This site provides information on the Foundation and its many programs.
Entrepreneurship.org: This site provides a world of resources for entrepreneurs. This site is the site specifically designed to assist small businesses from the Kauffman Foundation.
Small Business Knowledge Base: This site is a comprehensive free resource of small business information. It is packed with hundreds of guides and worksheets. The guidelines and tools necessary for small business success are presented here.
vFinance: This site features a directory of venture-capital resources, business plan templates and a mini-book store.
The Benefits Link: This site has been described as one of the best online authorities on employee benefits.
Free Patents Online: This site features a free patent searching database and several other features not found at USPTO.gov.
Market Research World: This site is a market research resource site providing free access to various industry information, career information, book lists, and up-to-date news.
